Over the past few weeks The Hunsbury Herald has brought you a series of 'election spotlight' profiles on the candidates in our area: Blisworth, Bugbrooke, Collingtree, Grange Park, Hunsbury, Milton Malsor, Rothersthorpe and Wootton.
These areas take in wards within both Northamptonshire Borough Council and South Northamptonshire District Council. This year's borough council election is set to be among the most interesting in the region.
And the Hunsbury Herald will be bringing you the results from the count as they happen tomorrow.
Currently the Liberal Democrats control the borough, but the Conservatives are confident of making up ground.
Notably the Labour party has failed to put up a candidate in 14 of the borough council's 45 seats. This has huge implications in the wards in The Hunsbury Herald region as East Hunsbury, West Hunsbury and Nene Valley, as well as nearby Upton, will all hold elections without Labour candidates.
Another factor making this year's elections different from those that have preceded it are the changes to the ward boundaries introduced by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England.
The Commission's review has reduced the number of councillors for Northampton from 47 to 45 and increased the number of electoral wards from 23 to 33.
The wards of importance to Hunsbury Herald readers are East Hunsbury, West Hunsbury, Nene Valley, which covers Collingtree and Wootton, and Upton - and these areas are not without change either.
In East Hunsbury current incumbent Phil Larratt will be standing again, but his Conservative colleague Judith Lill is stepping down.
There is a similar story in Nene Valley where Conservative Michael Hill will again contest the seat, but Colin Lill is standing down.
And it will be all change in West Hunsbury, where current councillor and cabinet member Paul Varnsverry has been forced to switch to the Delapre & Briar Hill ward due to the boundary changes and his Liberal Democrat colleague Richard Matthews will instead by standing in Upton.
Mr Matthews' move makes way for former councillor Jill Hope who represented West Hunsbury for eight years between 1999 and 2007 before stepping down to unsuccessfully contest the Milton Keynes North seat at the 2010 General Election.
She will take on Conservative Brian Oldham and Christian People's Alliance candidate Phillip Buchan in a ward where a new councillor is guaranteed.
In Upton the contest will be between Lib Dems Mr Matthews and Scott Collins, and Conservatives Brian Sargeant and Alan Bottwood.
Labour is also conspicuous by its absence in the four wards that will effect The Hunsbury Herald region of South Northants District Council.
And the lack of candidates standing throughout the district council area means that an incredible 10 out of the 27 wards up for election will be uncontested - including Blisworth & Roade.
That means Conservatives Steve Clark and Sally Townsend will remain as councillors for the area without even having to fight an election. And the lack of candidates also means that in Grange Park, Harpole & Grange and Heyford & Bugbrooke just three candidates will fight for two spots.
Conservative Paul Farrow, standing again, must be a favourite to retain his seat in Grange Park, while co-Tory Mark Davidson must also be odds on in the contest against Green Party candidate James Fearnley.
In Harpole & Grange, at least one of current councillors Ann Addison and Janet Eliot will be re-elected. They face Liberal Democrat Shaun Hope in the ward.
At least there will be some excitement in Heyford & Bugbrooke as current incumbents Independent John Curtis and Tory Graham Smith will both be stepping down.
That leaves a three way fight between Phil Bignell of the Conservative party, Independent David Harries and the Green Party's Shaun Walton
