ELECTION SPOTLIGHT: Jill Hope

In the run-up to the May 5 election The Hunsbury Herald has have offered each of the election candidates in our region - in both South Northamptonshire District Council and Northampton Borough Council - the chance to write 150-200 words saying why they should be elected.
The latest is Northampton Borough Council candidate for West Hunsbury, Jill Hope. Mrs Hope's profile completes teh details of the candiadtes in West Hunsbury.

Name: Jill Hope
Party: Liberal Democrats
Ward: West Hunsbury

What do the Lib Dems stand for in this election?

1. Creating jobs
2. Decent homes
3. Protecting the vulnerable
4. Improving the environment
5. A family-friendly and safe town
6. Value for money

Full details of our plan to keep moving Northampton forward can be seen at: http://jillhope.mycouncillor.org.uk/files/2011/03/Manifesto-2011.pdf
The contrast between the Lib Dems, who run the Borough Council, and the Conservatives, who run the County Council, couldn’t be more marked:
  • Lib Dems prepared for the bad times. Slimming down the council. Negotiating a new waste contract that saved £1.7 million, while delivering an improved service and the return of fortnightly brown bin collections. Negotiating the sale of Cliftonville. No cuts to frontline services and only a few redundancies.
  • The Conservatives have cut services and sacked 900 staff. The 12A bus is already lost, the 28 service is threatened. They have cut lollipop staff, turned off the speed cameras, cut grants to voluntary bodies and turned off half the street lights.
Why should the voters of West Hunsbury support Jill Hope? Because these are difficult times, and you need an energetic and experienced campaigner who knows the system. Want to know more? Look at www.jillhope.focusteam.org.uk
