BUGBROOKE: Woman banned from owning animals

A woman who pleaded guilty to not taking reasonable care of her cat has been banned from owning any animals.
April Russell, 30, from Kislingbury Road, Bugbrooke appeared at Northampton Magistrates' Court on Friday (April 15) accused of causing unnecessary suffering to a kitten.
She had pleaded guilty at a previous hearing, saying she did not realise she was causing the cat any harm. The charges related to offences committed between January 9 and June 13 last year.
The kitten, Tinkerbell, had to be taken to vets on a number of occasions. Her tail had to be amputated and she suffered a fractured jaw, before eventually being rescued by the RSPCA and re-homed.
Russell was banned from owning any animals for life and is not allowed to appeal against the sentence for 15 years.
She must go on a 10-day education and training programme and pay costs of £150.
