We have offered each candidate in our region - in both South Northamptonshire District Council and Northampton Borough Council - the chance to write 150-200 words saying why they should be elected.
Next up is Northampton Borough Council candidate for East Hunsbury, Phil Larratt
Name: Phil Larratt
Party: Conservatives
Ward: East Hunsbury
Phil Larratt was born in Northampton and has lived in the town all his life. He was educated within the Borough where he has continued to work, apart for a period of ten years commuting.
Representing East Hunsbury for 12 years Phil has been a strong voice for the area. Phil is currently the deputy leader of the Conservative group and opposition.
On the council, Phil has taken a keen interest in planning, transportation and the environment and he is currently Conservative spokesman on planning and regeneration.
The Lib Dems have run Northampton for the past four years to disastrous effect. Our town centre is in a run down state. Litter and graffiti is out of control throughout the Borough. The Cobblers and the Saints have been denied the expansion and development of their stadiums.
Phil wants to see all these issues resolved so that Northampton becomes vibrant, successful and attractive to all. He also wants investment in the area, creating high quality job opportunities that will raise the aspirations of young people, and provide a better quality of life for all.
Housing targets have reduced but remaining development proposals could impact on the area. Phil supports development to meet the needs of the existing population, but no more. Phil will fight against the impact of development on East Hunsbury especially that in the area of Wootton Hall Park and Collingtree Golf Course.
Apart from local politics, and despite becoming disabled five years ago, Phil takes a keen interest in rugby, supporting the Saints, motor sports and the Northamptonshire countryside.
