After 25 years as one of the best-known tracks in the country, the totally-revamped Milton Malsor circuit finally gets to hold a round of the Maxxis British motocross championship.Today's round at Milton MX Park has been greated by glorious spring sunshine - the perfect showcase for the track built by World Championship track builder Justin Barclay.
The circuit, which has held scores of club and national races over the decades as well as being a popular practice track, was last year reshaped into a top-class national-level race circuit.
Britain’s last world champion Jamie Dobb said of it: "It flows really well. It’s great fun to ride and will produce some spectacular racing.”
This afternoon's racing is the fourth round of the championship, promoted by ACU Events and featuring some of the best Motocross riders from across the globe.

Since last year the championship has included three races per class for both the MX2 and MX1 class. Each of the races are run over a race length of 20 minutes plus two laps.
MX1 racing is for two stroke solo machines with an engine capacity of 175cc to 250cc or four stroke with a capacity ranging from 251cc to 450cc; while MX2 can either be two stroke with a 145cc capacity or a four stroke with a capacity of 175cc to 250cc.
The main championship races are intertwined with competition from the MXY2 youth class.
MXY2 is a class which was introduced in 2007 and has become a great success over the past three years. The class includes riders aged 14-17 years. Riders will be on solo machines either 100cc to 145cc two stroke or 200cc to 250cc four stroke.
This morning saw the riders take part in a number of practice sessions, before the first raced started at 12.05pm.
