HUNSBURY: Tile mix up resolved at park cafe

Work is continuing on the controversial Hunsbury Hill Cafe after planners cleared up a problem with the tiles being used on the former toilet block.
Owner Colin Ingle had originally planned to open the cafe at the end of February, but building work was delayed after questions were raised as to whether the roofing tiles being used met with the planning conditions.
Planning officers at Northampton Borough Council had asked Mr Ingle to confirm that the correct tiles were being used - and asked him to stop work while the issue was resolved.
But at the start of this month permission was granted for work to continue.
A council spokesman said: "We have been working with the developer to ensure the work met the conditions set out by the planning permission.
"Early this year our officers asked for confirmation that work relating to the roofing tiles adhered to the agreed planning conditions. We advised the developer that they may wish to stop work until this had been resolved.
"We can confirm that we are satisfied that all planning conditions imposed on the
planning permission for the cafe are being met."
Last month The Hunsbury Herald revealed that the cafe, which plans to sell sandwiches, cakes and hot drinks, will be called the Drovers Return, after the ancient drovers track which runs through Hunsbury Hill Country Park - and a cheeky aside to famous Coronation Street pub, The Rovers Return.
But it has not been without controversy, with many critics fearing it will be a source of noise and rubbish, an attraction for anti-social youths and a burden for existing businesses, the plans were passed amid local outcry earlier this year
In an exclusive interview with this website at the end of last year Mr Ingle dismissed these claims, saying he wanted to create something 'typically English' where park users can have something to eat and a chat.
