Festival aims to promote equality and diversity

A community led festival is hoping to promote the message of an inclusive and tolerant Northampton.
The 'Rainbow Bridge Festival' is coming to the Racecourse on April 23 with the aim of bringing people across the town together to celebrate its 'diverse and environmentally conscious community.'
The event will profile some of Northampton’s brightest performance talent including Sandeep Raval and Mayank, Tarrantism and Riverboat John and his fair-weather Pirates. It will also include children’s, interactive and healing areas and an equality and human rights area to promote the overall message of the event.
Del Pickup, one of the organisers of the Festival, said: " We really want the opportunity to celebrate a modern and diverse Northampton.
"We’re still keen to offer opportunities for more people to get involved with the event and hope this will be the first of more to come."
The festival will take place between 12noon and 5pm close to the Dragon Mounds area of the Racecourse.
