'Teen 2,000' set for British Army role

2000th Princes Trust Member
A teenager from Blisworth is the 2,000th person to take part in a development scheme for young people. Tayrn Moreland, 17, enrolled in the Prince's Trust team programme to develop her self confidence, leadership and communication skills with the aim of joining the British Army.
'Team' is a 12 week, full time, personal development programme for young people aged 16-25 years old, which can lead to qualifications including City & Guilds.
Northamptonshire's Prince's Trust team leader Paul Hamblin officially announced the milestone had been reached on Wednesday, December 1.
The Prince's Trust was established in 1999 in the county by Tresham College of Further and Higher Education.
The announcement was made during Northampton North's Final Team presentation held at Sixfields stadium and attended by over 100 guests.
The presentation provided an opportunity to celebrate the Teams achievements over the past 12 weeks.
Taryn said: "The Prince's Trust is brilliant. It has given me the confidence I needed to develop my leadership and communication skills.
"I am proud of my team's achievements over the past 12 weeks and am very proud to be the 2,000th young person to have been helped by Tresham.
"I am now looking forward to joining the Army. ‘Quitters never win and winners never quit'. The Prince's Trust really can change lives."
She received a gift of an iPod Nano and a certificate signed by Mark Silverman to mark the occasion.
The next Team programmes in Northampton will begin from January 17, 2011 (Contact Paul Hamblin on 07717227503) and January 24, 2011 (Contact Wayne Taylor on 07766 365211).
