New shelter on way for Blackymore

A new shelter and bench are at the top of one councillor's Christmas wish list. Northamptonshire County Council member for East Hunsbury Councillor Andre Gonzalez de Savage has pledged nearly £4,000 to provide a shelter to the rear of the Blackymore Community Centre and a bench for the play area.
The cash comes from a lump of money - £7,000 in all - given to each councillor to use to improve the area's they represent.
The shelter and bench, which will cost £3,965, were proposed by Wootton and East Hunsbury Parish Council, of which Cllr Gonzalez de Savage is also the vice-chairman.
The project, which has already been approved by the county council, aims to improve 'a much used and valued community asset' and will ensure the community centre complies with Ofsted requirements regarding the provision of outside play facilities that can be used by children in all weather.
Cllr Gonzalez de Savage said: "The shelter is to enable our community centre at Blackymore to be used in all seasons in the outside area.
"There isn't a sheltered play area. This, through the Northamptonshire County Council empowerment funding, will provide one.
"The bench is for the ongoing project of the children's park and play area which, having been asked many times by the adults who take their children there, we have been able to provide."
