Bugbrooke doctor earns New Year's Honour

A children's health expert has been awarded the CBE in the Queen's New Year's Honours list. Dr Sheila Shribman, 59, from Bugbrooke, will receive the honour for her work as the national clinical director for Children, Young People and Maternity at the Department of Health.
The mother-of-three took up the role in 2005 after leaving her previous job as medical director at Northampton General Hospital. She first worked as a paediatrics consultant, but twice served as interim chief executive at the hospital.
Her current role involves tackling key health care priorities and newer challenges in children's health, such as obesity and the ongoing importance of inequalities.
She is also responsible for issues such as infant mortality and accidents, childhood disability and issues during adolescence.
