New website aims to help the homeless
Borough council bosses have launched a new website to help homeless people access vital services.
The Young Voices website provides information on housing, health, education and employment. It is supported by Northampton Borough Council's Youth Homeless Forum and social care department.
It includes a video which explains how young people can access emergency support and assistance, what they can expect if they are homeless and how the council can help.
An interactive forum for 16-25 year olds is also available, while visitors can communicate with the council's housing solution teams through live blogging sessions or by responding to questions posed on the site.
Cabinet member for housing, Councillor Sally Beardsworth said: "This is a great way of allowing young people to have their say in a forum situation where they can air their views and opinions.
"The site also links to other social networking sites such as Facebook, which allows freedom of discussion and the chance for people in similar situations to speak to each other."
Young people are being encouraged to get involved with the development of the site. Anyone interested should call 01604 837091.
