The Northampton South West regional team's latest update has highlighted the major concerns from residents.
These issues will form the basis of the Northamptonshire Police's local community team's work in the coming weeks and months.
The latest priorities are:
East Hunsbury Ward
Alleviate parking problems around the Primary Schools
Police will continue to carry out regular patrols as part of their School a Week scheme giving advice to parents about appropriate parking.
Reduce nuisance around Butts Road and Tesco Mereway
Officers have carried out regular patrols of the area, supported by the Special Constabulary and Youth Outreach workers, who are working with the young people to sign post them to more suitable activities to limit any nuisance.
The Youth Action Group is meeting on Monday, January 17, 2011 to discuss ways of tackling the issue.
Reduce litter around Tesco, Mereway
Partnership Co-ordinator, Pete Staffell, is applying for funding to provide a new bin in the underpass on the edge of Tesco’s land. Police are working with Tesco’s to discuss ways of tackling the issue.
The Youth Action Group is planning an Art project to improve the area.
West Hunsbury Ward
Reduce car parking/congestion associated with St Lukes Primary, St Crispins and Hunsbury Park Primary School, Camp Hill
Work is ongoing to find an alternative drop off point for parents to use to alleviate the congestion. Officers are still carrying out regular patrols as part of the School a Week scheme.
Reduce youth nuisance in Upton
Funding is still being sought to secure youth work for the South West. Some funding has been provided by the Police to work in hotspot wards, including Upton, until April.
Police are working closely with the schools, as part of the Northants Police Young Detectives scheme, to give the children an input on anti-social behaviour and the effects it has on the community.
