The changes, which will see Northamptonshire Police organised into two commands rather than area based units, come on the back of pressure to cut around £25million in the next four years.
From November 29 the force will be divided into a Territorial unit and a Crime and Justice unit.
It is hoped this change will lead to greater efficiencies, while also 'removing barriers that have traditionally been in place and giving the public an improved service'.
Territorial Command will include Safer Community Teams, emergency response teams, roads policing and the Force Communications Centre.
Crime and Justice will take in CID, Major Investigations, Public Protection, Intelligence and Criminal Justice.
It is hoped the new structure will allow more officers to attend incidents, rather than rely on the resources of local teams alone.
Chief Constable Adrian Lee said: “It is still unclear exactly how much money we will have to save in the next four years, however, it is likely to be in the region of £25 million, and to be able to meet these targets we have to look at what we do and become as efficient as possible.
“Removing the area boundaries will allow the nearest officer to respond to an incident and not have to take previous geographical barriers into consideration, thereby improving the service we provide.”
Changes to Safer Community Teams will see the current 41 SCTs reduced to 17 larger teams responsible for community policing across Northamptonshire.
Mr Lee added: “The restructure will see us reduce from 41 to 17 Safer Community Teams that will be aligned to ward boundaries, thereby making it easier for local people to find out which officers are responsible for where they live.
“We know that people really value the work of our Safer Community Teams and I want to reassure them that there will be the same number of police officers and Police Community Support Officers out on the beat on Monday as there has been in the past.”
Mr Lee said the re-arrangements has been organised in such a way that communities would more than likely still be served by the same inspectors, sergeants, police officers and PCSOs as they currently are.
The force website will include a new look to its Safer Community Team pages to reflect the changes. Residents will be able to find out which officers are responsible for the ward where they live or work.
