The plight of domestic abuse victims will be highlighted at a special conference aimed at helping children caught up in violent relationships.
The event, due to be held at King’s Park Conference Centre in Moulton Park on November 25, is entitled ‘Domestic Abuse – The Hidden Victims’.
It has been organised by Northamptonshire’s Domestic Abuse Forum (NorDAF), a sub-section of Northamptonshire Against Domestic Abuse (NADA), and will take place as part of Domestic Abuse Awareness Week.
The keynote speaker will be Toni Moore who will speak on her experience of a family where children were affected by the abuse occurring in the household.
This will be followed by six workshops looking at subjects such as Forced Marriage and Honour Based Violence; Children Missing from Education; Changing Attitudes and Breaking the Cycle, Adolescent Relationships, Civil Remedies and Where Children Can Get Help & Advice. These will take place twice during the day.
It is hoped that from each workshop there will be five action points that NADA can take forward to inform future strategies and actions.
The results will then be sent to those attending the conference at a later date.
The conference will end with a question time to a panel of experts from various statutory, private and voluntary agencies working in the field of domestic abuse.
If anyone would like to know more about the work of NADA contact Peggy on 0845 123 2311.
