New Northampton Borough Council leader Councillor David Palethorpe today (May 12) revealed his new Cabinet team after a crushing victory in last week's elections.
The all male Cabinet includes Upton councillor Alan Bottwood and Nene Valley representative Micheal Hill, who will serve as deputy leader.
Cllr Palethorpe said: "We have a fantastic opportunity to make Northampton a place where people enjoy living and working, where the business community feels confident and that investors want to be a part of.
"We have made a commitment to listening to what residents want and using their views to shape the services the borough council provides.
"Our strength will be in working with and not against local communities.
"We have selected a team that combines experience with fresh ideas, giving Northampton the best of both worlds. Our Cabinet has many experienced councillors who have served the people of Northampton for years, and we have brought in some new faces who will bring in new ways of thinking.
"We want residents and businesses to feel that everything is now in place to put Northampton back on track."
The new Cabinet consists of:
Leader: Cllr David Palethorpe.
This is Cllr Palethorpe's third consecutive term as a borough councillor. Previously he has been portfolio holder for housing and he has acted as the Conservative group leader for the past two years.
Finance member: Cllr Alan Bottwood.
Property developer Cllr Bottwood has lived in Northampton for 11 years. This is his first term as a borough councillor, but he has served as vice chairman of Upton Parish Council since 2008.
Regeneration & Enterprise member : Cllr Tim Hadland.
With 20 years of experience on the council, Cllr Hadland has previously served as Mayor, council leader and portfolio holder for finance.
Planning & Environment member: Cllr John Yates
Cllr Yates has served on the council for a number of years and previously sat on its overview and scrutiny committee.
Housing member: Cllr Christopher Malpas
Cllr Malpas has been on the council for eight years and on the county council for six. Although he has not previously acted as a Cabinet member, he was chairman of the overview and scrutiny committee.
Deputy leader and community engagement member: Cllr Michael Hill
Nene Valley member Cllr Hill has served on the council for 12 years and on the county council for four. He is a former Mayor and portfolio holder for community leadership.
As well as the six titled members the Cabinet will also include Cllr David Mackintosh, who will act as an advisor to them. The county council member for strategy, communication and external relations and an advisor of Prime Minister David Cameron, Cllr Mackintosh is new to the borough council.
He will not receive any additional allowance or remuneration in his Cabinet role.
