HUNSBURY: Work to start on Ladybridge Rec play area

Work is set to start this week on installing new play equipment in Ladybridge Recreation Ground.
The play area will include 11 new pieces of equipment in addition to the existing football/basketball goal end.
Other attractions are a a four metre high activity net, a variety of swings, roundabouts and climbers and exciting looking freeride and spinning tornado machines.
Fitness equipment such as a health walker and a ski stepper will also be installed. The Friends of Hunsbury Hill Country Park and Shelfleys Parks have been working with Northampton Borough Council over the past year to develop design proposals for the equipment.
The new play area is being paid for with £55,000 of section 106 money - cash given out by developers to improve the infrastructure of an area in which they are working.
In this case the funds come as a result of the Westlake Development and were collected by the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation.
Councillor John Yates, borough council member for planning and the environment said: "Northampton is blessed with a large number of parks and green spaces which can be enjoyed by the whole community.
"Projects like this help to improve and enhance our local environment by providing vital play opportunities for teenagers and younger children, which in turn help to breathe new life into the town's best assets.
"This is an excellent example of Northampton Borough Council working in partnership with others to complete new and exciting projects for the benefit of the town's residents."
And Anne Jones, from the Friends of Hunsbury Hill Country Park and Shelfleys, added: "The Ladybridge play equipment has been crying out for this type of investment for over 20 years and I am very pleased that work on play improvements have begun.
"The options for play in Shelfleys have been vastly improved and comments from residents and young people during the consultation about improving the play offer have been very positive."
Work to install the new equipment is expected to be completed by June 10 and will be followed by an official opening in July.
