BLISWORTH: From highwaymen to horns in coach talk

Those Coaching Day's will be the subject of Blisworth Heritage Society's latest talk.
Barry Clarke will speak on the subject on Friday (May 27) at Blisworth Village Hall.
The event will start at 7.30pm and will cost £1 for members and £2.50 for guests.
The talk will cover the heyday of coach travel in the late 1820s and '30s, a time when it took 18 hours to travel from London to Manchester.
Villages like Blisworth were very isolated and rural in those days, and the talk will reveal how passengers risked accidents, highwaymen and very muddy roads if they wanted to see the rest of the country. It will also tell how the coachman would play 'Lively Team' on his horn as he departed down Bridge Street.
