Don't forget to register to vote

People in Northampton have less than two weeks left to secure their right to vote in May's local elections.

 On May 5 residents will have the chance to decide who represents them at the Guildhall and in some areas on their local Parish Councils.

But only those on the Electoral Register will be able to vote and have their say.
Ross Thompson, head of the council's electoral services team, said: "If your name is not already on the electoral register, you have until Thursday 14 April to register to vote.

"If you are not registered, you won’t be able to vote in the local elections and will miss the chance to make your voice heard."

Registering to vote takes only a few minutes. Simply print off a form from www.northampton.gov.uk/elections

Voters will also find forms on those sites to apply for a postal vote. The deadline to apply for a postal vote is also 5pm on Thursday, April 14 and those who choose to vote by post should remember to return it in good time to arrive by 10pm on polling day, Thursday, May 5.
