Earlier this month members sitting at the Guildhill signed up to the Small Business Accord, a campaign to get local authorities to do more to support local business.
Run by the Federation of Small Businesses, the Accord is a commitment to working with the business community. David Bailey, council director of planning and regeneration, said: "Northampton is a great place for business. Our town has everything in place for new and small businesses to become successful, however we know that in the current economic climate it is important that we help and support our business community.
"Our small businesses are the life-blood of our town. They generate wealth for the town and create employment and in-turn attract more businesses to Northampton.
"Signing the Accord not only recognises the contribution made by our small businesses, but it is a commitment to improving our links with the business community."
