Milton Malsor mansion sells for £775,000

The former home of the man who founded Northampton Saints Rugby Club has been sold for £775,000.
Grade II listed Mortimers in Rectory Lane, Milton Malsor was sold by Auction House on Thursday (March 17).
Saints founder Reverand Samuel Wigg was the property's original owner.
According to a report in the Daily Telegraph written before the auction, the three floor, five bedroom Georgian property had attracted more hits on the auctioneer's website than any property previously, despite the fact it has no TV connection, broken central heating and a tiny ring for cooking. The property came with 4.2 acres of gardens and paddock, a carriage house, three garages, a potting shed, a tool shed and a pump house.
A further 44 acres, sold on a separate lot, went for £275,000, while yet another lot saw surrounding woodland sold for £65,000.
Rev Wigg was the vicar of The Church of St James in Milton Malsor, and is believed to have started the Saints after forming a rugby team from something called the 'church improvement class' as a way for high-spirited boys to let off steam.
The club's nickname of Saints or Jimmy's comes from Rev Wigg's involvement with St James Church.
