The deal between West Northamptonshire Development Corporation (WNDC) and Northampton Borough Council was announced on Friday (February 4).
WNDC has previously secured nearly £50million worth of developer contributions to infrastructure through section 106 agreements.
The s106 rules mean developers have to spend a certain amount of money on items such as roads or schools in order to be granted planning permission. The cash is then transferred to relevant bodies, including local authorities, to spend.
Although £50m has so far been agreed, so far only £4m has been received from developers.
Of the £50m, £9m will be spent on infrastructure related to the 450 home Grange Park scheme.
Speaking on Friday, WNDC chief executive Peter Mawson said: “It’s vital that we support Northampton’s growing communities by investing in infrastructure ranging from new roads and schools to parks and leisure facilities.
"So far we have secured nearly £50million in developer contributions to infrastructure and there is more in the pipeline. It is just one of the ways we are raising funding to invest in Northampton’s future”
And borough council cabinet member for planning and regeneration Councillor Richard Church added: “This is really good news for communities across Northampton as it ensures that any new building and development brings with it much-needed funds which we can use to improve our parks and community facilities for the future."
