Former Olympic sprinter Derek Redmond has been found guilty of driving while using a mobile phone and having no insurance.
Mr Redmond, 45, best known for having to be helped over the finish line by his father after suffering an injury in the 400m semi-final at the 1992 Olympics, was tried at Northampton Magistrates' Court on Thursday (December 9).
The Hunsbury Hill resident did not attend the case at which he faced charges of driving while using a hand-held mobile telephone, driving otherwise than in accordance with his drivers’ licence and having no insurance. He had been cautioned by a police officer on August 19 after being pulled over for using his mobile phone while driving.
The case was adjourned for sentencing.
