MEP - Europe's not all bad

The region's MEP has spoken out to insist that 'Europe isn't all bad'. Writing in the West Hunsbury Focus newsletter, Liberal Democrat Bill Newton Dunn used the example of an EU crackdown on paedophilia to highlight his message.
The MEP for the East Midlands - a vast area that takes in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire - admitted Europe has it's problems, but insisted that Britain is better off in it, than out.
He wrote: 'Europe gets a bad rap. And in truth, it's full of problems.
'There's too much discussion and not enough action. The parliament requires national governments to get things done, and if they can't all agree, sometimes, nothing happens.
'It's a problem. It's expensive!... the thing is, it's very, very important.'
He goes on to quote the example of European countries combining to crack 'one of the biggest paedophile rings in the history of the world.'
'Many countries have to work together on problems that effect us all. It's the only way it works,' he concluded.
'Yes, Europe has problems. Yes it could be improved. But no - it's not all bad.'
