A nursery which bases it's curriculum on the work of an Italian physician and educator is among 37 childcare providers rated as outstanding in the county.
The Foutain of Knowledge Montessori in Bugbrooke lived up to it's name when it received the top grading from Ofsted following an inspection in April.
This week the schools regulator revealed that 37 childcare providers were judged as outstanding in 2009/10. Under a new set of inspection guidelines introduced this year, representatives from the education watchdog spent more time in classrooms observing lessons.
The Fountain of Knowledge follows the teaching methods developed by Dr Maria Montessori, who developed her original concepts back in the early 1920’s while working with children in Rome.
Her methods are based around approaching an educational task in a manner that appeals to the child so he or she is not conscious of the fact they are learning.
And the nursery, based in Meadway, received a glowing report.Inspector, Melanie Eastwell, said the nursery had 'an exceptionally well-developed knowledge of children's individual needs' and that 'the needs of all children are very well met along with any additional support needs.'
She added: 'Children's care, welfare and learning is enhanced by the highly effective way in which the nursery is led and managed.'
Ms Eastwell also praised the Montessori as 'truly inclusive' with children 'treated with the utmost respect and as individuals.'
