Have your say on concessionary bus fares

Concessionary bus fares throughout the county are set to be reviewed.
The move follows the transfer of responsibility for providing concessionary transport to Northamptonshire County Council.
Previously district and borough councils throughout the county had legal responsibility to provide the English National Concessionary Bus Pass Scheme.
From April 1, 2011 the county council will assume control of the scheme which provides free bus passes to eligible residents, including pensioners and some disabled passengers.
Those with a bus pass can travel for free anywhere in the country between 9am and 11pm from Monday to Friday, and at any time at the weekend and on Bank Holidays.
The authority also has the option of offering passengers with bus passes free bus travel all day, every day and of allowing holders to have a companion travel with them for free.
Controlling authorities also have the option of offering eligible passengers the option of using travel tokens instead of a bus pass.
It is these optional requirements which the county council wants to hear people's views on.
It is currently proposing to opt out of all three possibilities.
People can take part in the consultation by writing to Lindsey Turner, Atkins Transport Planning and Management, The Axis, 10 Holliday Street, Birmingham, B1 1TF or by emailing lindsey.turner@atkinsglobal.com by Friday, October 15.
