Northampton Borough Council is set to receive the money - earmarked for promoting best practice for Rough Sleepers within Northants and Leicestershire - from the Department for Communities and Local Government.
The one-off payment is intended to support work designed to address single homeless people and rough sleepers. Northampton Borough Council housing solutions manager Ian Swift said: "This is great news for the council, this reinforces our commitment to leading the way for best practice when it comes to homelessness.
"To be chosen by Central Government to improve the way we work will help us no end as a local authority."
As part of a service launched last year people can call the rough sleepers helpline, 24 hours a day throughout the year, and the borough council will organise an outreach worker to visit the homeless person to help find them accommodation.
The helpline is 01604 629804.
