Fall in number of drink drive arrests

Ninety-five people were arrested for drink driving during Northamptonshire Police's annual winter campaign.
Between December 1, 2010 and January 1 this year a total of 1,066 people were tested, with 60 people already facing charges.
The number of arrests is down slightly from the same period last year when 108 arrests were made, although a higher number of tests - 1,358 - were carried out at that time. Chief Inspector Sean Bell said: "Although the number of drink drive arrests is down from last year, it is hugely disappointing to see that almost 100 people risked their lives, and those of others, by getting behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol."
Anyone who suspects someone of driving under the influence of drink or drugs should call Drivewatch on 0800 174615.
