'An audience with...' Ashes hero Alastair Cook

Alastair Cook
Ashes batting hero Alastair Cook is coming to town.
The opener will be the special guest of Northampton Saints for the club's next 'An Audience With...' event at Franklin's Gardens on Tuesday, February 15.
Cook was part of the England side that secured a three tests to one win over arch rivals Australia in the recent Ashes series. The victory was the first time England have won the little urn down under for 24 years.
Left handed batsman Cook, who attended Bedford School, was named man of the series after scoring an incredible 766 runs in the five test matches at an average of 127.67 His efforts included a top score of 235 in the Brisbane test which saw him pass the previous highest score at the Gabba, posted by the great Sir Don Bradman in 1931. He also scored centuries in Adelaide and Sydney.
The huge volumes of runs came despite doubts over his form following a poor summer in 2010 and a string of low scores in previous games against the Aussies.
‘An Audience With...Alastair Cook’ will be MC’d by England’s chairman of selectors, and old friend of the Saints, Geoff Miller and will feature highlights of the Ashes series and tales from Cook’s career, as well as a three-course meal in the Rodber Suite
Demand for the event is extremely high with more than 250 places already booked.
