Cops crackdown on litter and underage drinking in Grangewood Park

Tackling underage drinking was one of the priorities of community police last month.
The Hunsbury & Nene Valley Safer Community Team (SCT) has been carrying out regular patrols in Grangewood Park in East Hunsbury throughout September.
The team, led by partnership co-ordinator Pete Staffell, also concentrated on littering throughout the park.
Mr Staffell arranged for ‘no littering’ signs showing the penalties to be put up in the area. Work was started to demolish the Bouverie Road garages on Tuesday, September 14 following months of discussions between Northampton Borough Council, the fire service, environmental wardens and the crime prevention team.
Elsewhere, work has taken place to improve road markings in Martins Lane outside Hardingstone Primary School. Barriers will be installed outside the school and the nearby post office later this month.
The team's work has been heralded as a success by Northamptonshire Police with only one incident of rowdy behaviour being logged between September 1 and 28. Officers attended and spoke to the young people present to resolve the issue.
Other work carried out by the SCT over the past month includes tackling anti-social behaviour and rubbish issues around Bouverie Road garages in Hardingstone, and resolving parking issues around primary schools across the Hunsbury and Nene Valley area.
